Oh the Places You'll Go...

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.

You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.

And you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.

It's opener there
in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.

And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.

OH!
THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

You'll be on your way up!
You'll be seeing great sights!
You'll join the high fliers
who soar to high heights.

You won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed.
You'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead.
Wherever you fly, you'll be the best of the best.
Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

Except when you don' t
Because, sometimes, you won't.

I'm sorry to say so
but, sadly, it's true
and Hang-ups
can happen to you.

You can get all hung up
in a prickle-ly perch.
And your gang will fly on.
You'll be left in a Lurch.

You'll come down from the Lurch
with an unpleasant bump.
And the chances are, then,
that you'll be in a Slump.

And when you're in a Slump,
you're not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself
is not easily done.

You will come to a place where the streets are not marked.
Some windows are lighted. But mostly they're darked.
A place you could sprain both you elbow and chin!
Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose? How much can you win?

And IF you go in, should you turn left or right...
or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it's not, I'm afraid you will find,
for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.

You can get so confused
that you'll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place...

...for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or a No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a sting of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.

NO!
That's not for you!

Somehow you'll escape
all that waiting and staying.
You'll find the bright places
where Boom Bands are playing.

With banner flip-flapping,
once more you'll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.
Ready because you're that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done!
There are points to be scored. there are games to be won.
And the magical things you can do with that ball
will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Fame! You'll be famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don't.
Because, sometimes, they won't.

I'm afraid that some times
you'll play lonely games too.
Games you can't win
'cause you'll play against you.

All Alone!
Whether you like it or not,
Alone will be something
you'll be quite a lot.

And when you're alone, there's a very good chance
you'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.

But on you will go
though the weather be foul
On you will go
though your enemies prowl
On you will go
though the Hakken-Kraks howl
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak.

On and on you will hike
and I know you'll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.

You'll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You'll get mixed up
with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life's
a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and 3 / 4 percent guaranteed.)

KID, YOU'LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

So...
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea,
you're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So...get on your way!

I'm not neglecting, I swear!

I really meant to post here more often, I just am too lazy/busy to really write anything decent. So here is my sad attempt. -_-
Look at what I've been doing for the past hour and a half (and I'm still not done.)

That would be my history study guide up until number 2 of part 2. That means I have 7 more to go. *shoots self* I mean, I can do it, I just hate it. You would too if you've learned about World War II about 2,385,709,384,750,982 times in your school career.

-_-

Someone keeps annoying me with her ways. She doesn't know when to shut up or when someone doesn't care about what she is saying. She will repeat something from her story at least 5 times just so she can hear herself talk. I'm convinced of it. Yet I have to do so much for her/with her. I'm just so annoyed! I'm mean she is a great person and all, I just need a break from her. A LONG BREAK. I'm so glad I'm leaving the state for college. Praise the Lord.
It's no one from my online community of friends, so I think I'm safe posting this here.

Home.

Made it home safely. When I have the energy, I'll update about the trip. Pictures included.

Here's a teaser:

I leave at 3am...

It's currently 9:10pm. And in less than 6 hours I am getting on a bus to the Oakland airport where I am then flying to Kansas City, MO and then to Washington DC.

I will be gone for a week, so don't miss me too much! I do hope that everyone that is going down to Wellington next week has an awesome time because I probably won't see talk to you from now until you all get back, except for on Twitter.

If you have my number, text/call me if you want. I'll be ECSTATIC! Like seriously.

While I'm gone, I'll not only be witnessing history on January 20th in DC, I'll be traveling around Virginia to the historical Civil War sites and Jamestown/Williamsburg. :D I'm going with my history teacher and a bunch of my friends so I know it'll be a great experience.

I'm live tweeting my entire experience, so get my twitter updates!
http://www.twitter.com/vivalalaurennn

I won't have internet access for the most part while I'm gone, but I will update it via text message. And I am getting twitter text messages from Jess, Denise, Josh, Becky, David and Tenani.
And, if you want to get a hold of me while I'm gone, direct message me on twitter. Then I'll get it to my phone. :D

Love for now, LAUREN <3

Update

Finals were fine today. Just Spanish and Psych. We didn't do much of a final in either class anyway, but tomorrow is math and TOK.

I have to study for math tonight, a lot. I'm going to quickly make my OAW video right now because Iw on't have time tomorrow, and then I'm going to get started on studying.

Full night ahead of me! Won't be online at all. Sorry. :(
But, Friday I will be for sure! :D

Finals Start Tomorrow...

I have Spanish and Psychology finals tomorrow. Not too big of a deal.
Not REAL final in Spanish, and an open book test in Psychology. Stress free, really.

On Thursday, I have Math and TOK. These are what I'm stressing about. -_-
Math I have a cumulative final on everything I've learned this year. From August until now. I'm needing to study big time. And on, top of the studying, I have my math project due at noon on Friday. Joy. All I have to do in TOK is write a rough draft for my TOK essay. But this involves creative thinking and preparation. I'm not ready for this. :(

Friday, I have History and English. I have to study for both. History is an exam on Single Party States in Europe. Mostly revolving around Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco. Fascist dictators FTL.
English, I have two essays. One on the play The Visit and one on the novel Things Fall Apart. I didn't finish reading TFA...so I'm scared. Plus, there are 40 multiple choice questions on each as well. So stressful.

I'm hoping that on Friday I can come home and take a nap, pack, and then stay up all night because I'm leaving for the airport to go to Washington DC at 3am. T_T

I'm insanely excited about my DC trip though. I get to see Barack Obama inaugurated. The first black president! :D More on this later this week.

No play rehearsal for the rest of the week.

The Neech is 24 years young!

Happy Birthday Denise!

You are one of the most kind and friendly person I've met on YouTube. I can't believe how easily our friendship has grown. Our first meeting might have been slightly awkward to you, but I know that next time (because there is of course going to be a next time) it will be like seeing old friends.

Denise, I know I've said this before, but I feel like I could tell you anything because I trust you. I love the one-on-one chats we have, and the calls we have with Jiss. I'm happy that you can trust me too. I think of you as that cool big sister that I always wish I had, but never did. I had to deal with an older brother my whole life, this is a nice change. It sucks that we all live so far apart. But my one goal (besides college, right now) is to go to New Zealand with you.

You're a great friend Denise, and I'm so lucky that I got to know you. So happy birthday! I hope your day was fabulous. FEF fo' lyfe! Denise the duck says hello!

So my birthday was great. Had fun at school. Then Kelly and Becky went to dinner with me and my parents. Then they stayed over and we talked to Jess, David, Rob, and Simon. Not all at once though.

I got 2 packages of stroopwafles. Here's a pic of me eating one.
And I got iPod headphones with a mic built in so that I can talk on skype on my iPod. :D
Oh and a straightener for my hair.

I have the hiccups right now.

Hiccups aren't pleasant. Argh.

I got a chocolate letter 'L' from my Godmother for Christmas. I always get that from her. It's Dutch tradition. I'm always so excited about it. except this time, when I opened it, half the chocolate had gone bad. *sadface*
Dutch chocolate is my favorite chocolate in the world... but it went bad and now I'm all upset that I have no Droste chocolate.

I'll include a picture. I actually attempted to eat the bad chocolate too. It wasn't good, obviously.

FUNNY STORY TIME!

I was at rehearsal for the play that I'm in, Cyrano de Bergerac, and we were doing a read through. If you're unfamiliar with the play there is a scene where Cyrano (the main character) is in a theater and a girl, known as the Orange Girl, is selling foods. She hears that Cyrano doesn't have any money left for the month so she offers him some food. Anyway, in the script's stage directions Cyrano must kiss her hand and thank her before she leaves the theater.

Here's the funny part. In rehearsal it gets to that part and the guy who is playing Cyrano, Jon, says his line before he is suppose to kiss the Orange Girls hand and then he goes on to moan something that is not in the script at all, "MMMMMMM. Tastes Citrus-y."

You can imagine how we all laughed after that. OMG so funny. The end.

TheWineKone @ his finest.

I twitpic'd this, but I also felt the need to blog it for Denise. Here it will be encapsulated in time. FOREVER.

XD <33333 YOU DENISE!

.

Let's see how many people comment this.

Answer me these questions three:

(1) What is your name?
(2) What is your quest?
(3) What is your favorite color?

I'll add things to this as the day progresses.

I went to sleep at 7am this morning and woke up a little past 2pm. I have screwed up my internal clock like nobody's business.
I made Mac and Cheese and then watched a little bit of the Falcon/Cardinal football game. I'm in love with Matt Ryan so the Falcons better win! *shakes fist Rache style*
My face has been breaking out due to stress and it makes me feel ugly. D:
I've wasted too much of today already. Need to get going on Spanish/ Hitler&Stalin Study Guide.

Taking another break...

I should be doing homework, but I keep getting sidetracked. Not even by skype like I normally would. I took skype away from myself for the weekend. :( I somehow have found other ways to procrastinate. This is why I think procrastination is an art.

I got a parcel in the mail from Rob today and it seriously made me so happy. In it were 3 dinglepop badges, and a badge that says, "THE GAME" on it. (When I opened it, I saw that and right away said, "I just lost the game.") I got a little toothpick thing with an Australian flag on it to add to my Australia collection and I got chocolate coins and 2 toffee pieces. YUM.

Since I got that, all I can do it stare at the dingles. They are so adorable. I'll be putting them on my backpack for school. That's right, it'll be stellar. I'll be one of the cool kids in no time. mhm.

I'm all ready for school on Monday, with the exception of my incomplete homework... -_-

2009, I have high hopes for you.

Last night was pretty epic I must say. Sarah, Bekah, John, Daniel, Bradley, and I all gathered at Sireesha's house to bring in the new year. We played The Game of Life, and made pasta. And then we sat and talked and watched "Jizz in My Pants" and various other viral videos from 2008 on YouTube. We counted down from 10 until the clock hit 12:00 and we toasted eachother with Sparkling Cider (not wine like some people were led to believe.)

I called Jess on Sireesha's computer and she got to meet everyone that was there, or at least see them I believe. It was funny. So a lot happened while we hung out and I heard a lot of gossip about old friends that have moved on to college and I hadn't heard from them in a while. That was odd to hear what they are doing now. Sarah, Sireesha and I stayed up late after everyone had left and gossiped more. I miss that when they're gone. I always miss them so much. They both leave January 4th. :(

I'm glad I had a good beginning to 2009 though. I know this year is going to be the year that the most change happens to me. I'm graduating from high school in June, going to college in August and that means I'm moving out. I seriously can't wait.
